Anti-Abortion Auditor Overreach

House Bill Number:
391

House Bill 391 would grant the State Auditor broad power to "investigate" abortion providers, including access to examine all books, accounts, records, money and property of any abortion clinic.

From the ACLU of Kentucky: This bill will "expand the role of the Auditor of Public Accounts to audit the vital statistics reports of Kentucky's only abortion clinic. The Auditor of Public Accounts is charged with ensuring public resources are protected, accurately valued and properly accounted for, and also effectively employed to raise the quality of life for Kentuckians. Kentucky's abortion clinic does not receive any public funding. The clinic complies with all state law and is already monitored by numerous state agencies.
