NKY Celebrates Pride!

Northern Kentucky members helped kick off Pride celebrations in May at the unveiling of the 'Y'all Means All' beer from Bircus Burewery, which benefits Northern Kentucky Fairness

This week Northern Kentucky's Tenth Annual Pride swings into full gear with last night's The Future is Queer event at Lil's Bagel's, an under 21 event aimed at creating a space where young members of the community can come together and celebrate community. KFTC was on hand to register voters, and talk about ways people can get involved in the work for equality beyond registering to vote.

Members next will be participating in the 3rd Annaul Northern Kentucky Pride Parade, as well as tabling afterwards in Goebel Park on Sunday. If you wish to join us, meet us at the Covington Landing at 11, or you can join us at our table at 1 pm in the park. We'll be registering voters, selling merchandise, and talking about the work KFTC is doing.

The local chapter also has a belonging training that they are hosting with Northern Kentucky Fairness and the Community of Reason on Tuesday June 11th. This training is aimed at creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people are not just included, but belong. Special thanks to Bonnie Meyer for helping with this important event.

The work of creating belonging involved making space for all oppressed people. understanding that those oppressions do not exist in a vacuum. We are working for the Kentucky we all want to come home - whether we are born here, or chose here. One where who you love, what you look like, or what you earn doesn't prevent you from caring for yourself and those in your community.
