“Towns across America are struggling to protect their precious natural resources from effacement by a seemingly unstoppable kind of growth. And he (producer Terrence Malick) urged me to think beyond merely stating the fact of destruction to examining how it happens. What are the forces that are dismantling our democracy? And what are the spiritual consequences on out interior landscapes of sitting in traffic day after day?”
--Laura Dunn
Indeed, the film speaks eloquently to the challenges we face here in Kentucky where we struggle to protect our natural resources in the face of formidable opposition.
The integrity of our water supply is endangered on many fronts, and our precious bluegrass is threatened by sprawl while our mountains are being destroyed by mining. By beginning a dialogue and working together we can create economic and environmentally sustainable alternatives that insure a better quality of life for all Kentuckians.
Join KFTC for this special screening of The Unforeseen and take part in the panel discussion directly following to explore the film’s universal themes of respect for the lives of people and communities that encourages responsible development without doing damage to the water, air and land.
KFTC is a grassroots social justice organization with 4,500 memebers statewide. KFTC believes in the power of citizens, working together, to challenge
injustices, right wrongs and improve the quality of life for all Kentuckians. We would like to share with you the stories behind our triumphs and our plans for the future.
