Tell the Public Service Commission: Northern Kentucky Deserves Better

All Kentuckians, no matter our zip code or how much money we make, deserve affordable and clean energy.

Yet monopoly utility Duke Energy is trying to raise our rates again, and they’re trying to charge us more no matter how much energy we use. Unless the KY Public Service Commission hears from us, Duke might increase their average monthly bill for ordinary Northern Kentuckians by over $15.

Duke also wants to increase the fixed monthly charge part of our bill by so much that it will have jumped 211% between 2017 to 2020! Changes like this will make it difficult for households to manage bills by conserving energy or investing in energy efficiency or rooftop solar.

If you get your electricity from Duke Energy, make sure you take a moment this week to submit a written comment to the KY Public Service Commission, asking them to deny Duke's proposal for higher rates.

Use these talking points to prepare a brief letter or written comment to the Public Service Commission. Remember, you don’t have to be an technical energy expert to have a say! We are all experts in our own experiences, and personal stories or reflections on how the rate increase will impact your family or community go a long way.

You can email public comments in to [email protected], or mail them to "P.O. Box 615, 211 Sower Boulevard Frankfort, KY 40602-0615." Be sure to include the case number, 2019-00271, in the subject line.
