Question 1:

Would you support the passage of an ordinance requiring that waste-to-energy facilitates be located a safe distance from homes, schools, and places of worship? Would you support the development of a waste-to-energy facility in your district? Please explain.

I feel these facilities would help keep landfills free from additional waste, but would only support them in heavy industrial areas at no less than a 1 mile from residential areas. I can support these facilities so long as they fit those criteria and ensure all odor/nuisance abatement elements are maintained.

A couple of weeks ago, there were several meetings across the city about biodigestures. The taking of biodegradable products, and converting them into energy, with a by product of methane gas. During these meetings, it was understood, that these digesters, are unsafe and prone to methane leaks. I would fully support a ordinance that not only requires them be a safe distance away from schools and neighborhoods and such, but also support a ordinance to keep them out of the city. It should be noted that most of the residents of Louisville are against these.
