Question 1:

Why do you think you are the right person to represent your district on the Louisville Metro Council?

I am a life-long educator and social justice advocate.  I believe in building the frameworks of society and supporting them with the infrastructure needed to sustain and make them flourish.  I have strong background in organizing people of all backgrounds.  In my everyday life I mentor and teach students from all backgrounds, religions, and nationalities.

On a larger scale, I serve as an elected Board of Director member for both Jefferson County Public Schools and Kentucky Education Association.  We are the governing body for educator unions in Jefferson County and Kentucky.  I run a free tutoring service for KEA to recruit and train potential minority teachers. I also serve as treasurer on the Board of Directors for A Future in Hope and Youth Services, Inc. a local non-profit group home also located in District 15.

I believe in developing all community stakeholders. I have a specific plan to do this through equity in education, community service, and rebuilding the infrastructure in District 15.

Question 1:

Why do you think you are the right person to represent your district on the Louisville Metro Council?

Service to others was instilled in me by my mother at an early age.  This has been my lifeblood since the 1980’s, volunteering to create effective change within communities in Louisville.  I am the best candidate for Louisville Metro Council District 15, because I am the only candidate who has been active with neighborhood associations and residents. My innovative ideas have been well received by residents during meetings.  I am pleased to see that one of my original concepts has taken traction and has resulted in a new ordinance, (Registration of Rental Housing; Ordinance 174, Series 2016). In 2017, I became a board member of the Cloverleaf Neighborhood Association. The President of our association asked me to accept the role of vice-president because she felt confident of my leadership abilities, ideas, concerns, and passion for our community. In August 2017, I was asked to speak at the Louisville Metro Council Board meeting in opposition of a No Confidence vote of Chief Steve Conrad for the Oakdale residents in my district, with the support of our current Councilwoman.

Question 1:

Why do you think you are the right person to represent your district on the Louisville Metro Council?

I am the right person to represent my district because I am hard-working, determined, and resilient.  I have been a resident in this district for 17 years.  During those 17 years there have been positive things that have taken place within the district.  I want to build on that and take the district to another level.  I want to be the voice of District 15 and its residents.
