Energy for Change: A March and Rally for Clean Energy & Healthy Communities | Kentuckians For The Commonwealth

Energy for Change: A March and Rally for Clean Energy & Healthy Communities

Kentuckians from across the commonwealth are invited to join the Unitarian Universalist General Assembly for “Energy for Change: A March and Rally for Clean Energy & Healthy Communities” at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 20. Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light (KIPL) is working with the Unitarian Universalist Assembly to organize area participation in what promises to be the largest environmental justice rally in Kentucky history!

Plans are to march from the Louisville International Convention Center (at 3rd and Market Streets) and rally on the Belvedere with special guests farmer and poet Wendell Berry, activist Tim DeChristopher and musicians kRi ‘n’ hettie.  Hear testimonies, join in song, and learn practical ways for how you can make a difference in your life and in your community. The program runs through 7:30 pm with informational tables and advocacy opportunities following.

KILP's message is that "we need to stop the harmful effects of practices like mountaintop removal, hydraulic fracturing, mining, and drilling. They are hurting all of our communities, and most especially, communities of color, low-income neighborhoods, and rural areas. We can find new ways forward together. But in order to change how we get our energy, we must first use the energy within all of us to make a change."
