Louisville Loves Mountains Week

Louisville Loves Mountains Week is a series of community events leading up to the 10th Annual I Love Mountains Day rally and lobby day at the State Capitol in Frankfort on Thursday, February 12, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Concerned citizens of all ages come together at I Love Mountains Day to call attention to the need to begin a just transition to a more diverse, sustainable and thriving economy in the mountains, that includes stopping destructive practices like mountaintop removal coal mining. Screening of the documentary film Deep Down

KFTC, UofL's Sustainability Council, and GRASS (Group Recycling and Sustainable Solutions) present a free community screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary film Deep Down. The film follows an eastern Kentucky community's contentious battle over a proposed mountaintop removal coal mine. More information about the film can be found at http://deepdownfilm.org/

Following the hour-long film, KFTC member Mary Love will answer audience questions and share information about the organization's Appalachian Transition work and continued efforts to end mountaintop removal coal mining.

Poster-making supplies will be availablebut feel free to bring your own. This event is free. Coffee and food available for purchase. Bring your homemade poster to I Love Mountains Day on February 12.
