Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform meeting now...

This meeting isn't one of the public forums that will be happening across the state--those kick off on May 29 in Paducah--but it's the second meeting of the Blue Ribbon Tax Commission members. They've gathered to establish some shared knowledge about how taxes work, the history of tax changes in Kentucky, and to look more deeply at the principles that their recommendations must follow. There's no discussion; just a series of presentations to help orient the commission members.

These meetings are open to the public; the next one is on May 8 at 1:00 in Frankfort. Then comes the real opportunity for KFTC members: The Commission starts hearing from Kentuckians through public forums held across the state. The schedule's below.  Can you come to the one near your hometown?

Tuesday, May 29, 6 p.m., Paducah

Tuesday June 19, 6 p.m., Bowling Green

Tuesday July 10, 6 p.m., Louisville

Tuesday July 24, 6 p.m., Covington

Tuesday Aug 7, 6 p.m., Prestonsburg

Tuesday Aug 21, 6 p.m., Lexington

Wednesday, Sept 19, 1 p.m., Frankfort

Tuesday Oct 2, 1 p.m., Frankfort

Thursday Nov 8, 1 p.m., Frankfort

We'll be offering resources, tools, and opportunities to meet and prepare a good showing of KFTC members at these meetings. In the meantime, take a look at the website set up for the Tax Commission, here.

What do you want to tell the Commission members about the kind of Kentucky that we deserve, and how we should best pay for it?
