Central Kentucky KFTC holds 2014 Annual Chapter Meeting

The Central Kentucky KFTC Chapter held its Annual Chapter Meeting on Thursday, June 19 at the Northside Branch of the Lexington Public Library.CKY Annual Chapter Meeting Group

Kentuckians For The Commonwealth's Annual Membership Meeting will be held August 22 - 24 in Carrollton at General Butler State Park. Every year leading up to the annual meeting, each chapter of KFTC holds a special meeting to elect leadership, provide feedback about KFTC's issue platform, and vote whether to remain a chapter. These meetings are an important part of KFTC's democratic process. They provide a time to reflect and celebrate our accomplishments, set new goals, and engage all interested members in building a strong grassroots organization.

This is our local chapter's time to: celebrate local efforts and accomplishments; elect KFTC board representatives; volunteer or nominate others to serve on KFTC’s statewide committees or to help with publicity, membership, and fundraising in the local chapter; provide input and suggest changes to KFTC’s issue platform; vote whether to continue as a KFTC chapter; and set goals for the year ahead.

The Central Kentucky chapter elected Christian Torp as the chapter’s steering committee representative. Christian will be serving for his third and final year. The chapter also elected Sarah Martin as alternate steering committee representative and she will be serving her first term. Chapter members set goals for the upcoming year for membership recruitment and grassroots fundraising. Central Kentucky chapter members plan to recruit 350 new members and raise $12,000 dollars over the course of the next year.SarahChristian

Join us for our July chapter meeting on Thursday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Mission House located on the corner of 4th Street and MLK Blvd. (across from The Living Arts and Science Center). We will have our summer potluck and continue to hear about local and statewide issues and find ways to connect and work towards a more just Lexington and commonwealth.
