Central Kentucky voter mobilization update

Members and friends of the Central Kentucky chapter of KFTC have been working around the clock to educate voters and moblize them to the polls. First, we sent a physical copy of our voter guide to the home of every single KFTC member in our chapter area and every single person that we registered to vote in 2012. Then we printed 1000 extra copies and left them all over town in places like grocery stores, coffee shops, churches, campuses and libraries so that folks could pick them up and read about the candidates before election day. We also made this voter guide available online at http://kentuckyelection.org/lexington/ and we've been encouraging folks to share that link with their friends and family via email and on social networking sites like facebook and twitter.

In addition to educating voters, we've been calling them as well to make sure they're going to get out and vote, that they know where their polling location is, and that they have a way to get there. We've been offerering rides to anyone who needs one and have had a couple of folks take us up in the offer. We held five phone banks leading up to election day and have also had volunteers making calls from home. As of today we've made approximately 2000 get out the vote reminder calls. Several former felons who don't have the opportunity to vote in Kentucky also came out to make calls and to urge people who DO have the right to vote, to exercise that vote.
