Northern Kentucky chapter attends recovery event

The Northern Kentucky chapter recently tabled at the Transitions Annual Recovery Reunion in support of their work with those dealing with addiction. This annual event, which celebrates the success and continued support of those who are fighting addiction, had over 400 people attend. Hosted by Transitions, a recovery group in Northern Kentucky, they also had food, games, and live music on hand for people attending.

Other organizations who attended included ally People Advocating Recovery, and Gateway Community and Technical College. These organizations talked about many of the issues impacting people struggling with addiction, especially for those trying to reintegrate back into society.

Members of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth used the opportunity tabling alongside these resources to help talk about voting rights, hand out applications for restoration civil rights, and register voters.  Many people who attended were excited to take action to restore voting rights for former felons, especially since many knew personally someone impacted by the policy.

The event, which was a success by any standard, proved a great event. The chapter was thankful to be there, and looks forward to participating in this event again next year.
