Successful and fun Shelby County KFTC Pie Auction & Chapter Annual Meeting

Our fourth annual Pie Auction raised almost $1,000 for the Shelby Chapter. Sixteen pies, cakes and other edible goodies plus a hand-made summer garden wreath brought $810 plus another $155 in donations.  Two dozen members plus guests filled the Talon Winery Tasting Room, where samples of wines were also available. $965 made this our most successful pie auction yet.  The Talon Winery venue is a special draw, being a lovely building with country views yet conveniently located. Champion Fundraising Coordinator Ann Ellerkamp praised the Talon Winery staff for their help.

Among the pies auctioned were:

  • Maker's Mark dark chocolate mint cake
  • Quiche Lorraine
  • Caramel Dutch Apple
  • Strawberry Rhubarb
  • Key Lime
  • Steak and Irish Stout Pie (the high-bid winner at $125, made by our own Carissa Lenfert)
  • Boston Cream Pie
  • Chocolate Meringue
  • Buttermilk
  • Chocolate Pecan Bourbon
  • Strawberry Cream Cake
  • Blueberry
  • Mini Spinach Artichoke Parmesan pies
  • Gluten-Free Apple

A key to our auction success is to twin the pies: bringing one to auction and another for attendees to taste before bidding.  The other key is our born-to-do-this Auctioneer Shane Ashford.

The auction started immediately after our Annual Meeting, at which we noted a membership total of 92 - double the number of members four years ago when Patrick King became Membership Coordinator.  Ann Ellerkamp is our new Steering Committee Representative.

Our next fundraiser will be a Chili Supper in the Fall.
