…Better known as ACES, is a series of workshops to share information about sustainable economic opportunities, and cultivate ongoing discussions about economic issues facing Wise County and Southwest Virginia.  WHEN?   Every other Saturday from October 20th  to December 1st, 2012 1-9 pm.

Find us at Home Craft Days for all of our workshops of the day in the Godwin Building on MECC Campus in room 149!

 

1-2 pm. Growing Forest Botanicals as s sustainable money-making practice”  by Katie Commender of Appalachia Sustainable Development. Meet at Godwin Building, Room 149, MECC Campus. The first 10 participants to show up will receive FREE elderberry seedlings to take and plant at home!

 

2-4 pm. “Saving water and money with rain barrels”                                                  by Andrea Rocchio of Upper Tennessee River Roundtable. Meet at Godwin Building, Room 149, MECC Campus. Rain barrels are in short supply some be sure to come early to build one to take home FOR FREE.

 

4-5 pm. “How to extend the growing season of your garden: Learn how to build a cold frameby Marley Green of Southern Appalachian Mountain Stewards. Meet at Godwin Building, Room 149, MECC Campus.

 

5-6 pm. Informal Discussion about being an artisan in SW VA with local artists and shop owners Fiona Zonke, Valerie Dowdy, and Carol Ingram Moore of Big Stone Gap’s Powell River Pottery and Arts! In Godwin Building, Room 149, MECC Campus.

 

6 pm. FREE Local Meal at the Appalachia Senior Center in downtown Appalachia, VA.

 

7 pm. FREE Live Entertainment with Claxton Creek! At the Appalachia Senior Center in downtown Appalachia, VA.
