Question 1:

My congressional campaign is an extension of my life’s work to mend what’s torn and to heal what’s broken within our communities and social systems.  As the first Democratic congresswoman ever elected in Kentucky, I’ll dedicate my time to serving all of the constituents of the 6th district.  A congressperson has to bring wisdom and good judgement to national and even global issues that don’t necessarily impact this district, but our representatives also have a responsibility to leverage their position to improve the lives of their constituents.  This includes finding common-sense solutions to gun violence in our urban areas, new economic opportunities for eastern KY, and holistic solutions to our painkiller and heroin epidemics.  Rather than working for Kentuckians, my opponent has dedicated the bulk of his proposed legislation in Congress to assisting big banks and other major players on Wall Street.  If I’m elected then I’ll work hard to give citizens here in the Bluegrass a greater say in the legislation that’s supported by their congressperson.  We all deserve a healthy Kentucky that includes clean water and air, equal pay for women, criminal justice reform, and legal protections against discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, or religion.
