Voting is Power

This is my first year as a Voter Empowerment Contractor with KFTC, and being active in the election. I am not able to vote and the closest thing to voting for me is encouraging and educating people who can vote to vote. To campaign the restoration of voting rights petition influenced people who may not think their vote matters, have a change of mind to vote.

I share personal experiences making myself vulnerable to strangers who after hearing my story, takes it more personally and go vote for me and them.

”The different tabling events showed me that empowerment and engagement is vital for the community to get positive and productive results and real life conversations.”

Through this whole experience I was able to be chosen for a local news soundbite for education policy. I was able to be chosen for two different KFTC [member-led] commercials, along with encouraging fellow KFTC members to do the same.

The different tabling events showed me that empowerment and engagement is vital for the community to get positive and productive results and real life conversations. Overall I enjoyed everything from training to door knocking and getting the message out any way we can.
